1949
The history of Lime Sales dates back to 1949 when it was owned by brothers Victor and Ollie Sampson. In 1974, Boetie Katzeff and Tony Petter-Bowyer purchased Lime Sales. Boetie mined gypsum in Elands Bay as well as calcitic lime in Saldanha during those early years. The lime was either sold as agricultural lime or as feed lime, depending on the quality, and was distributed widely.
In 1978, Bridgetown Dolomite Mine was founded in Moorreesburg, 100km north of Cape Town, and was planned as an agricultural lime facility.

1996
With the announcement of Saldanha Steel to be built, the mine was expanded to provide metallurgical dolomite to Saldanha Steel from 1996 onwards until the closure of the Saldanha Steel operation in 2020. It was also supplying high-quality dolomitic lime.
Lime Sales Ltd. was purchased by SPH Kundalila (Pty.) Ltd in 2017. SPH had been mining at the Bridgetown Dolomite Mine since 1988 as a contractor.
2017
2022
Aquarium Holdings purchased the majority shareholding in Lime Sales Ltd. from SPH Kundalila in January 2022, adding to its shareholdings in other resource companies like Tip Trans Resources.

Since 1988 to date, Bridgetown Dolomite Mine has crushed and sold over 750 000 tons of agricultural lime to customers around the Western Cape.
